Baby Loss Awareness Week

Find out more about Baby Loss Awareness Week, what Bliss is doing to support it and how you can also get involved.

What is Baby Loss Awareness Week?

Baby Loss Awareness Week (9 to 15 October) is an opportunity:

  • for bereaved parents and families across the world to commemorate their babies’ lives
  • to break the silence around pregnancy and baby loss in the UK
  • to ensure all bereaved parents in the UK get the best possible care, wherever they live, when they need it.

How is Bliss supporting Baby Loss Awareness Week?

Bliss is one of the main charities leading the Alliance of over 50 pregnancy and baby loss charities supporting and promoting Baby Loss Awareness Week in 2018.

How can I get involved?

Baby and pregnancy loss is often a taboo subject. You can help to break the silence around this issue by talking to your friends, family and colleagues about Baby Loss Awareness Week, wearing a special pin badge, turning UK pink and blue and lighting a candle on 15th October.

Find out how you can get involved this year by visiting the Baby Loss Awareness Week website.

Ask your NHS Trust to improve bereavement care

This Baby Loss Awareness Week we are asking supporters to write to your local NHS decision makers to ask them to use the National Bereavement Care Pathway tools to improve the care that they provide to bereaved parents.
